Turkish airlines plane tail smashed in dramatic collision at Istanbul Intl' Airport


The Asiana Airbus A330 was carrying 222 passengers when it hit the stationary Turkish Airlines A321 at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, "slicing off" the tip of the Turkish Airlines' plane's vertical stabiliser, the Korea Times reported.

The incident is being investigated.

It appears the Turkish Airlines aircraft was sticking out over the path being used by the Asiana Airlines pilots, when the planes collided.

Asiana said the company itself is not involved in the investigation and did not disclose a clear reason for the accident.

The Asiana A330 crashed into the Turkish Airlines A321's tail while parking and caused extensive damage on the vertical stabilizer of the Turkish plane, Daily Sabah reports.

Almost 100 passengers arrived in Incheon through flights offered by other carriers like Korean Air and Turkish Airlines later on Sunday.
