Athletics' Piscotty homers in first at-bat since mother's funeral


Playing in his first game back with the A's after taking time to grieve the passing of his mother, Gretchen, Piscotty had just homered in his first at-bat at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.

Piscotty had been away from the team following the death of his mother. Piscotty patted his heart with his right hand in tribute to Gretchen Piscotty, who died May 6 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Because of the three-hour time difference, Piscotty said he didn't feel that exhausted.
