Former Premier League footballer Jlloyd Samuel dies in auto crash

Relatives paid tribute to the 37-year-old in a statement released by Cheshire Police.

"Sadly the driver of the auto, Jlloyd Samuel, 37, from Lymm, died at the scene", they said in a statement.

He was reportedly on his way back from dropping his children off at school when the accident happened.

The 37-year-old, who was a Trinidad and Tobago worldwide died on the spot after his Range Rover collided with a van in High Legh near Lymm.

A witness who tried to rescue Samuel told the Warrington Worldwide: "I was on the scene within two minutes of the crash occurring and smashed the windows of the blazing vehicle in an attempt to get the occupant out".

Samuel leaves behind wife Emma and their three children, aged 10, 8 and 5. The fire was too bad.

Manchester United star Ashley Young, who played with Samuel at Aston Villa, described him as "such a good guy on and off the pitch and a truly good friend".

Samuel played for England at youth level, in Under-18, U-20 and U-21 teams, pledging his global allegiance to his homeland, winning two caps.
