The theme for World Environment Day is "Beat Plastic Pollution". By doing so, severe environmental consequences can be prevented and the natural habitat will be liberated from plastics. By simply refilling a reusable bottle, you'll prevent some of these plastic bottles from ending up in landfills and oceans - but don't stop there.

Nubi said that the university had made progress in her recycling effort by being able to recycle an average of 10.4 tons of plastic per month. "Fifteen thousand tonnes of plastic waste is generated every day, 9,000 tonnes is collected and recycled, but 6,000 tonnes of plastic waste is not collected and remain littered", Javadekar said. The Association for Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN), an umbrella body of Impact Assessment Practitioners in Nigeria, has called on the Federal Government to develop, implement and enforce strong laws and policies that will curb the production and use of unnecessary single use plastics.
