Skyrim isn't coming to Alexa...but this makes us wish it was

Skyrim: Very Special Edition was the best gag so far at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), a way of Bethesda making fun of itself for its multiple ports of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

"Now, Skyrim looks to the future for its ultimate version", the announcer said in the video.

The Skyrim Very Special Edition will be available on Amazon Alexa, the Etch-a-sketch, Motorola pagers (specific models to be determined), and Samsung smart refrigerators, which will bring a whole new level of depth to those trips to the Nordic north.

At its E3 2018 press conference Sunday, Bethesda laughed its own success with a joke trailer for Skyrim on Amazon Alexa.

You can play the app by tapping Alexa's circular icon on any Amazon-installed device and saying "Alexa, open Skyrim".

It's not clear if this is really the full game, but it's still pretty remarkable that Bethesda did it. Amazon Alexa owners have since realized the game does exist and can be played right now on the device.

The description for the app details that it is "the version of Skyrim you never saw coming" and that it has "finally arrived on the platform you never asked for".

It turns out, though, Skyrim: Very Special Edition is a very real thing.
