Twitter Explodes as Robert De Niro Swears at Trump During Tony Awards

Robert De Niro's over coming up with clever ways to insult President Trump - he's now sticking with "F*** Trump", which he just blurted out at the Tony Awards. twice.

De Niro was on stage to introduce Bruce Springsteen, who won a Tony for "Springsteen on Broadway". "It's f-k Trump". He praised musician Springsteen for his own political activism, saying "Bruce, you can rock the house like nobody else and even more importantly in these perilous times, you rock the vote, always fighting for, in your own words, truth, transparency and integrity in government".

"Boy, do we need that now".

Groban joked they were told to do something drastic by CBS after De Niro's remarks.

The national television audience did not hear what Mr. De Niro said, as the censors immediately bleeped out the curses.

While top and mainstream media houses have "beeped out" De Niro's comments, the video clip of De Niro's "F-bombs" is going viral on Twitter and other social media platforms.

De Niro, a noted liberal, has been increasingly critical of Trump, a Republican, at smaller show business events, but none have the high profile and audience of the Tony Awards.

The 68-year-old star received a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre in honour of his critically acclaimed show.
