‘Avengers: Infinity War’ crosses $2 billion at the box office

The Marvel Studios sequel officially crossed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office today, marking a genuinely rare achievement.

Infinity War is expected to surpass Titanic in the next week, putting it directly behind Black Panther's $699,389,760 total. Infinity War was a top performer in China, opening to the sweet tune of a reported $200 million, as well as in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia, among others. Bringing together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more, Marvel's epic superhero crossover is essentially the culmination of a decade worth of unprecedented filmmaking. Over its span of a decade, Marvel brought together nearly every superhero in its comics world onto the celluloid, to ultimately fight against the supervillain Thanos in the Infinity War.
