MMA star Conor McGregor heads to court for melee charges

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor says he regrets getting into a backstage melee at a Brooklyn arena and hopes to have his USA court case resolved soon.

The result of the hearing which lasted under a minute, was that Conor McGregor has entered plea negotiations, with his next hearing set for July 26 2018.

Speaking outside the court, McGregor said: "I regret the actions that led me here today".

His attorney told the judge that the UFC star is negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors.

The Dubliner appeared in court following on from charges laid down in relation to the attack on a bus carrying UFC fighters and employees at the Barclays Center loading bay, in April.

After learning that Khabib was on a bus about to leave, Conor reportedly threw a dolly through one of the bus' windows - leaving Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg with facial and eye injuries.

"I don't know what Conor has planned".

He said: "He and I are meeting on the 18th of this month".

McGregor commented on the court date via social media, noting that he is going to be flying out to NY to face the charges on Tuesday, ahead of the court date on Thursday.
