Mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus discovered in St. Louis County

Mosquitoes captured by health officials in Burlington this week have tested positive for West Nile virus.

The most effective way to prevent West Nile virus infection is to avoid being bitten by an infected mosquito.

The North Dakota Health Department has been urging people to take precautions to protect themselves from the virus, said Jenny Galbraith, surveillance epidemiologist in the department's Division of Disease Control.

The district's website features a mosquito treatment notification service, plus an interactive map so residents can determine whether they are in the spraying zone.
