Michael Phelps has already solidified himself as the greatest swimmer of his generation - if not all time.

Clark Kent Apuada, won the 100m butterfly during the Far Western Long Course Championships in California with a time of 1:09.38, over a second faster than Phelps.

"Being a Michael Phelps record breaker is unbelievable, because Michael Phelps is one of the largest swimming icons in the world", said Apuada.

A 10-year-old boy by the name of Clark Kent has beaten a 23-year-old record set by Olympic champion Michael Phelps.

Even more impressive about all this, Clark has only been swimming competitively for four years. That is more than a second faster than what Phelps managed at the same competition, the Far West International Championship in California, over two decades ago in 1995.

In 1995, Phelps - who is one of the "most successful and decorated Olympians of all time" - completed the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:10:48.

"We're always just telling people his name is Clark", she said.

"He does piano lessons, he does martial arts, and at school, if there's a computer class, coding, or STEM programs he's always joining", the proud dad said.
